Microtunnelling & thrust boring

Microtunnelling is a technique that's ideal for relatively short, straight pipeline crossings of roads, railway lines and other existing structures, generally suited to pipes that are 1m or more in diameter.

The boring machine has a cutting head and spoil removal system. Starting from a launch pit, dug at one end of the planned bore, the machine drives a jacking pipe and the cutting head into the bore as it is cut.

Once the bore is completely through to a reception pit at the other end, the boring machine is removed and the product pipe is drawn through the jacking pipe and tied into the main pipeline.

We are working on newer techniques for trenchless installations incorporating aspects of HDD, microtunnelling, pipe jacking and others. These include such newly introduced and developing techniques such as Direct Pipe and Easy Pipe, as marketed by German trenchless equipment manufacturer Herrenknecht.
