Anglo Coal's Moranbah North mines 3.6 million tonnes of hard coking coal for steel making each year, using some of the world's most advanced techniques.
Lucas has provided a variety of services to Moranbah since 2001. We've consolidated mine roofs by drilling up and over the roof and installing steel spiles to prevent uncontrolled roof collapses, reducing longwall downtime and increasing safety.
We've carried out underground in-seam drilling to drain gas and improve safety. As the first to achieve 1,200m underground holes at Moranbah North, we can get more done in every shift, so gas drainage lead times are longer. Our most recent work has been drilling the first underbalanced 6" hole from the surface to the coal seam.
