The Master Builders' Association announced its Construction Awards for 2008 today.

Lucas Stuart's work on Merivale's Ivy won the award for Hospitality Buildings, $25 million +.

Construction of the complex’s 18 bars, nine restaurants, rooftop swimming pool, the landmark 509m2 Ivy Room (above) and 1,500m2 retail precinct has continued through the year.

The complex encompasses two buildings on George Street and two laneways. As a construction project, it’s extremely complicated, with numerous changes of level, many above-ground plantings, a complex back-of-house with ten cellars, nine commercial kitchens, technical and office spaces. To add to the challenge, all the material for the project had to be delivered through a four-metre-wide lane.
