Eastern Pipeline Stage 1B completed on schedule

The Eastern Pipeline Alliance, of AJ Lucas, Transfield and McCalls, announced the completion on time of Stage 1B of the pipeline.

The Oxley and Goodna pump stations began pumping water to Bundamba on 30 March 2008, bringing the entire Stage 1 (1A and 1B) into operation.

Less than twelve months after breaking ground on the project, we have completed the design, land acquisition, approval, construction, testing and commissioning of three pump stations, 19 land bores and around 40 km of pipeline in suburban Brisbane.

Highlights were the Bulimba Creek and Aquarium Passage HDD crossings which were both completed successfully in March.

Stage 2 of the project is well underway, with pipe laying crews averaging 2.3 km a week during March, completing 20% of the Stage 2 pipe laying.
