Lucas was appointed as a subcontractor to the Department of Employment, Education and Workplace Relations’ managing contractor, Reed Constructions. We were awarded 58 projects; the scope of works included the construction of halls, home bases and modular buildings.

Using regional project teams and centralised management and administration, Lucas was able to deliver cost effective, high quality builds to schools throughout New South Wales.

The project involved the design and construction of a marine maintenance facility with boat ramp, heavy ship lift and travel lift, work sheds and 20,000 sqm of heavy duty concrete paving.

Lucas also designed and constructed a 6,840 sqm commercial building incorporating three levels of office space, basement car-park with ground floor commercial space and mezzanines for retail use as well as a cafe with out-door terrace and a state-of-the-art, five storey internal steel stair case.

The challenging site, located under the western end of the Anzac Bridge, also required stringent environmental management.

Client: Hunter Water Corporation

Lucas was appointed to design and construct the 30ML Dungog Clear Water Tank (CWT) and 7 ML Anna Bay Reservoir. In total, the tanks consist of 122 precast concrete panels, each over 10 metres high. Innovative construction methods, including  on-site concrete casting, were used to deliver significant cost savings to Hunter Water Corporation.

Lucas also installed the 1200mm diameter inlet and outlet pipes, scour lines, thrust and structural support and associated automated and manual controls.
