Uncompromising Standards in Safety, Quality & Enviroment

Robust systems to ensure we deliver excellence safely, sustainably, and consistency.

Systems and Assurance

Lucas operates an Integrated Management System (IMS) that supports our safety, environmental and quality processes across all projects and operations. The system provides a framework for managing risk, maintaining compliance and continually improving how we operate.

The IMS is independently certified to:

  • ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety
  • ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
  • ISO 9001 – Quality Management

The IMS is documented within the Lucas Management System and is supported by procedures, standards and review processes that help ensure work is completed safely, responsibly and consistently.

Safety

Safety at Lucas is supported by practical systems, clear expectations and active workforce involvement.

Work is planned through project-specific management plans, risk assessments, Safe Work Method Statements and other task-based processes designed to identify and control hazards before work begins. These systems help our people understand the job, manage risks and work safely from planning through to completion.

These systems are supported by a culture that encourages people to take ownership of the job.

Our crews work in variable environments where conditions, hazards and priorities can change throughout a shift. That's why we focus on building strong safety habits that empower people to identify risks, make good decisions and stop work when something isn't right. If conditions change, our people are expected to reassess the task and make it safe before continuing.

Tell Us About Safety at Lucas

Safety isn’t just a policy on paper, it’s how our crews operate on the pad every single day. We asked our team to share what safety at Lucas looks like in practice, from safety in design and hands-free automation, to a culture where looking out for your mate comes first.

The Lucas Safety Zone

Injury Free. Every Day.

The Lucas Safety Zone is a simple approach adopted across our business to help people prepare for work and manage risk before a task begins.

  • Think
Understand the task, identify the hazards and consider what controls are needed.
  • Talk
Discuss the work with the team, clarify responsibilities and raise any concerns.
  • Act
Put the right controls in place and complete thework safely. If something changes or a risk is not being managed, stop the job, fix the issue and make it safe before continuing.

The Safety Zone forms part of our everyday work practices and encourages people to take a moment before starting any task to ensure the job is understood, risks are managed and the right controls are in place.

Are you in the Safety Zone?

Safety performance is supported through hazard reporting, inspections, audits and ongoing review, with lessons learned used tostrengthen controls and improve the way we work.

Environment

Environmental management is integrated into projectplanning and day-to-day operations across the business.

  • Environmental requirements are identified and managed through project-specific management plans, procedures and operational controls. Our crews are responsible for managing waste, preventing spills, protectingsensitive environments and meeting client and regulatory requirements.
  • Lucas tracks environmental performance through inspections, audits, reporting and improvement actions. Fuel consumption, emissions and other environmental performance measures are monitored andreviewed to support compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • By combining practical field controls with ongoing monitoring and review, we work to minimise environmental impacts while delivering successful project outcomes.

Quality

Delivering quality outcomes starts with clear plans, experienced people and consistent processes.

  • Work is completed in accordance with client requirements, project specifications and documented procedures, with inspections and review processes used to ensure requirements are met and work is completed to theexpected standard.
  • Feedback from clients, employees, audits and operational experience is used to continually improve our systems and the way work is delivered. Our goal is simple: complete the work safely, meet project requirements and deliver a quality outcome the first time.

Leadership and Continuous Improvement

Strong systems are important, but good performance ultimately comes down to our people.

  • Lucas conducts regular site visits, safety interactions and Safety Leadership Forums that bring together operational personnel, supervisors and managers to discuss incidents, emerging risks, lessons learned and practical improvements.
  • Many of the improvements implemented across the business have come directly from suggestions raised by our crews. Whether it's modifying equipment, improving a process, strengthening a control or introducing a better way of working, we encourage our people to identify opportunities to improve how we work.
  • By listening to our workforce, learning from experience and sharing improvements across the business, we continue to strengthen our safety, environmental and quality performance year on year.
