XXXX

The project is the third phase of a $200 million proposal to enable more gas to flow into NSW from existing supply basins by expanding the Victorian infrastructure and to alleviate supply pressures by flowing gas in from other sources.

On the 17th December 2015 Spiecapag Lucas – SCL (a joint venture between Spiecapag Australia and Lucas Engineering and construction) were awarded the contract for the construction of 165Km’s of Domestic Gas looping Pipelines.

SCL’s scope of work consists of the construction of 165Km’s of Pipeline across the 2 states, installation of Cross-ties into existing lines, Testing and Pre-commissioning.

Spiecapag Lucas (SCL) was contracted to perform the construction and installation of gas and water trunklines, fibre optics and HV distribution for the Project.

Some field development had already been completed in the North development area with further development to supply gas to the domestic market. The QCLNG development work scope will be separate and additional to these existing facilities but will interface with them.

Gas trunklines (5 Nos) – 53.5 km total - DN350 to DN500 – X42 - 2LFBE external coating. Pig launchers and receivers for gas lines also required.

Water trunkline (1 No) – 24.4 km – DN600 – Concrete lined carbon steel (rubber ring joints) – Sintakote external coating (MDPE) including:

  • Vents

  • Drains

  • Valve stations

  • Pressure regulating stations

  • Cathodic Protection (for both gas and water trunklines)

  • High Voltage cables (total 83.5km) in a separate trench

  • Fiber Optic Cable (total 83.5km) in HV cable trench where possible

Underground Water Pipeline

Our HDD and micro tunneling expertise were used to install underground pipelines through the built-up areas of Brisbane.

Lucas was responsible for the design, pipe selection and construction of HDD crossings under the Brisbane River at Luggage Point and the Aquarium Passage.

Working with alliance partners, Lucas successfully delivered a total of 90km of pipeline, pumping stations and water balance tanks, significantly improving South East Queensland’s water infrastructure.
